We are so happy to announce our keynote presenter: Julie Leonard, Associate Professor of book art and design from the University of Iowa! Also giving presentations at the wayzgoose are Fritz Klinke (NA Graphics) and Brad DiCharry (University of Iowa), along with a special screening of Linotype: The Film. New Classes Added!

We’ve added two new classes: 4-Up with a Side of Bearers with Marnie Powers-Torrey and Claire Taylor from Red Butte Press at the University of Utah, and Commercial Platen Press Printing with LoLP’s own Kseniya Thomas! Marnie and Claire will, in two short sessions, take you from setting type to printing a booklet on one of Printers Hall’s venerable handpresses, and Kseniya will teach you, in one even shorter session, how to get a job with a deadline up and running on a platen press. Hey guys, we hear ya, and yes! Men are invited to the conference, workshops, all events, and even to join as members in our organization (LoLP just happens to be run by a couple of ladies). In fact, we even welcome anyone who’s not a printer – designers, poets, artists… – anyone who has an interest in what letterpress printing is all about, and is looking for a chance to find out more. The more the merrier!

Many thanks to everyone who came out and made the Ladies of Letterpress Conference 2012 another success! I really enjoyed seeing old familiar faces and making many new friends, and I hope that each of you had a great time as well. Also a BIG thanks to our wonderful sponsors and speakers – without you, none of this would happen!

Instead of a conference (which will become an every-other-year event), we’ll have a regional wayzgoose at Midwest Old Thresher’s in Mt. Pleasant Iowa, June 27-29, 2013. This will be three fun-filled days of working on presses, learning new skills and techniques, and printing together on collaborations. The emphasis will be on having a very hands-on experience. We’ll see you there!

Things are really getting underway for the conference… the program is finalized, tote bags are getting filled with some awesome swag from our sponsors, and I hear that many of our guests are on the road! We’re really looking forward to getting things started – the Print Shop Tour and setting up the Printers Fair tomorrow afternoon, then diving right in early Friday morning. Happy travels and we’ll see you soon!
