Hey guys, we hear ya, and yes! Men are invited to the conference, workshops, all events, and even to join as members in our organization (LoLP just happens to be run by a couple of ladies). In fact, we even welcome anyone who’s not a printer – designers, poets, artists… – anyone who has an interest in what letterpress printing is all about, and is looking for a chance to find out more. The more the merrier!
Daggs, Moxon, Berliner, Henry, Sparks, Peterson, Fay, Shanilec, Klinke, and more! More letterpress and book arts workshops in one weekend the world has never seen. We hope you can join us; space is very limited! See above for all the info you need, and stay tuned here and on ladiesofletterpress.com for updates.
We’ve posted some of the workshops planned for the event, but keep checking back – we’ll be adding more! Also, the schedule is in the final planning stage, and will be posted very soon. Which means… registration is on the horizon!
Many thanks to everyone who came out and made the Ladies of Letterpress Conference 2012 another success! I really enjoyed seeing old familiar faces and making many new friends, and I hope that each of you had a great time as well. Also a BIG thanks to our wonderful sponsors and speakers – without you, none of this would happen!
Finally, make a note in your calendar for next year’s event, Type On The Cob! Instead of a conference (which will become an every-other-year event), we’ll have a regional wayzgoose at Midwest Old Thresher’s in Mt. Pleasant Iowa, June 27-29, 2013. This will be three fun-filled days of working on presses, learning new skills and techniques, and printing together on collaborations. The emphasis will be on having a very hands-on experience. We’ll see you there!
Things are really getting underway for the conference… the program is finalized, tote bags are getting filled with some awesome swag from our sponsors, and I hear that many of our guests are on the road! We’re really looking forward to getting things started – the Print Shop Tour and setting up the Printers Fair tomorrow afternoon, then diving right in early Friday morning. Happy travels and we’ll see you soon!
Ok, so it happens sometimes… you miss a deadline and you wonder if there’s any way to still make it in time. Well we’ve been there too, so for you late birds we’re going to extend the deadline for for the early bird rate another 10 days, until July 24th!
Plus, consider joining Ladies of Letterpress for another 10% off the conference registration. With a paid membership, you get to take advantage of special offers from our sponsors throughout the year.
We’re just over a month away from conference-time! But before that . . . the special early-bird registration rate of $225 expires on July 14th. After that, registration will be $275. That’s Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and half of Sunday, full of letterpress printers, printing, friends, and delicious Asheville eats. Take a look at our speakers and sponsors, and we’ll see you in NC August 2nd!
We’re so excited to welcome Amos Kennedy to LOLP Con 2012! Amos will discuss his work on the panel The Brow Situation: High Brow meets Low Brow, and he and filmmaker Laura Zinger will answer questions after the screening of Proceed and Be Bold, a documentary about Amos’s adventures in letterpress printing. We’ll have a ‘cash-n-carry’ event after the screening where you’ll have a chance to buy your favorite posters printed by Amos.
The speaker list and panel lineup have also been updated here! We’re sad to say that Rena Tom has had to cancel this time, but we’ll look forward to having her in the future.
REMINDER: Early bird registration pricing ends July 14! Seats on the Asheville Printshop Tour are rapidly selling out, as are tables for the Printer’s Fair. Space is limited, so book today!
